Year 7 September 2023
We have 210 places available in Year 7 for September 2023. If you would like to apply, please use the secondary Common Application Form that you will receive from your child’s primary school and return it to your local authority.
If the school is oversubscribed, places will be allocated by applying the following admission criteria in order:
Priority 1 A ‘looked after child’ or a child who was previously looked after but immediately after being looked after became subject to an adoption, child arrangement, or special guardianship order.
Priority 2 Children who have demonstrated an aptitude in our specialist subject area: either rugby or netball who live within the schools PAA, will be considered for 10% of the available places and will feed into our elite rugby union and netball programmes. These trials have now taken place for 2023 entry.
Priority 3 Children, foster children or stepchildren of a parent/guardian in current employment within the Rodillian Multi Academy Trust working at the BBG Academy as their full time place of work when the following applies:
a) The member of staff has been employed for 2 years or more at time of application or
b) The member of staff is recruited to fill a vacant post at the BBG Academy for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage.
Priority 4 Children who have an older brother or sister from the same address who will be on the roll of the Academy at the date of admission (the sibling rule).
Priority 5 Children living in the Academy's Priority Admission Area (PAA) covering East Bierley, Birkenshaw, Gomersal and Birstall, who reside nearest to the academy based on the straight line distance from the home address to the Academy.
Priority 6 Children living outside the priority admission area who reside nearest to the academy based on the straight line distance from the home address to the Academy.

Making the move to secondary school can be a challenging time for both parents and students. At BBG Academy we work closely with primary schools to make sure the transition from Year 6 to Year 7 is a smooth and positive experience for all.
BBG Academy is a popular academy, however, spaces do become available at times. If you would like to apply, in-year application forms (for Year 7-11) are available from the Academy office or you can download here. In the case that your application is not successful, you will be added to our waiting list and will be contacted if a place becomes available. Please return your completed application form to the Academy office.
If you would like to appeal against a decision please click here. Your appeal should be lodged by March 2023. All appeals lodged by this date will be heard by June 2023.
