Travelling to BBG Academy

BBG Academy has a wide catchment area with students attending from around the Birstall, Birkenshaw, Gomersal and East Bierley area. There are many different ways to travel to the Academy to make sure you arrive safely and on time. The information below will help you with making the right choice for you.

On Foot

Many of our students live within a mile of BBG Academy and use this to their advantage by taking the healthy option and walking to school. Being aware of the dangers associated with busy road networks like the A58 Whitehall Road and A651 Bradford Road and practising good road safety is the key to enjoying this practical transport method. All students must enter the site using the clearly marked pedestrian entrance on Bradford Road. The gate entrance from Kingsley Drive is for students only and is open at the start and end of each academy day. Please be aware this access remains locked at all other times.

Cycle

A growing number of students cycle to the Academy, taking advantage of the secure bicycle racks at the front of the Academy. Students must be competent riders, aware of the dangers associated with busy road networks. Students must wear cycle helmets at all times if they wish to cycle. Some students also choose to come on their scooters. Please be aware that bicycles and scooters must NOT be ridden on the Academy site. Please ensure you bring a cycle lock with you.

By Car

Parents and carers may drop their children off at the Academy by parking on Bradford Road. We would ask you to park responsibly and be mindful the Academy is in a residential area.  Vehicles must not enter the Academy site as parking is limited to staff only and moving vehicles on site pose a health and safety risk to students.

By Bus

The Academy is well served by local buses and more information can be found by visiting
www.arrivabus.co.uk. Please be advised that all students must have a half fare pass to access child rates on all buses.  If you are new to public transport, it’s a good idea to find the stop you will be using so you will be confident and know where to go on your first day.  Details of exact routes and stops can be found at www.arrivabus.co.uk/journeyplanner. If you feel your child may be entitled to free school transport, please contact: [email protected].
